Day and Night Light: Significance and Challenges
The Day and Night Light Seminar is a unique event organized jointly by Tragi Światło, the SOMA Agency and the Gdańsk University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture, under the patronage of the IEA TCP SHC (International Energy Agency – Technology Collaboration Programme on Solar Heating and Cooling). The main goal of the seminar is to explore the importance of light – both natural (daylight) and artificial – in shaping space, architectural design, urban planning and creating a sustainable environment.
The seminar is part of the activities of the international research group WAPG “SUP&ER” (established thanks to the IDUB AURUM Supporting International Research Team Building), which supports the development of international scientific cooperation and the development of interdisciplinary research on daylight and electric light. Scientists, practitioners and experts will take part in the discussion panel.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to listen to lectures by leading experts in the field of lighting and urban lighting:
• Roger Narboni
French lighting designer who introduced the concept of “Light Urbanism” in 1987 and founded the lighting design studio CONCEPTO near Paris in 1988. With over 30 years of experience, Narboni has implemented over 130 lighting plans worldwide. He is considered an authority in urban lighting planning and the creation of lighting strategies for cities.
• Niko Gentile
Assistant professor at Lund University, he specializes in daylight and artificial lighting. He combines technical and observational approaches to the evaluation of lighting systems, drawing on knowledge from building physics, environmental psychology and architecture. His research focuses on adapting lighting to the needs of the user. He is the co-author of the book “Daylighting and Lighting under a Nordic Sky”.
The seminar is intended for architects, urban planners, lighting designers, scientists and anyone interested in the subject of light and its impact on space and quality of life. This is a unique opportunity to expand your knowledge, exchange experiences and be inspired by the latest achievements in this field.
